WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.

YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. A featureless market yesterday saw very little alteration in quoted prices on the Wellington Stock Exchange. The market was inclined to be sluggish, and the turnover was not very extensive. Interest in Government loans was inclined to flag, but the few quotations showed a firm tendency. The only recorded business was a sale of 3j per cent, inscribed stock, 1938-52, at £llO 2s 6d. Wellington Gas 6j per cent, debentures were firmer at £lO3 15s. Bank transactions were rather dull, prices showing little change. Australasia sold at £ll 10s 6d and £ll 10s 9d, and Reserve Bank were firm at £6 11s 3d. In the financial section Goldsbrough Mort were a shade better at 30s 6d. Abraham and Williams, preference, were bid for a.t £4 14s. N.Z. Guarantee Corporation sold strongly at £6 11s 3d. Union Steam preference were firm at 27s 8d and P. and O. deferred were wanted at 21s Woollen shares were very firm, Kaiapoi advancing to 14s 3d, and Wellington preference to £5 13s. Others were unchanged. Little quotable change was seen in any other section. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
