CANADIAN QUINTUPLETS.
A DIFFICULT PERIOD. The quintuplets born to Mrs Dionne at North Bay, Ontario, have been passing, through a difficult period, as they are suffering from intestinal toxemia and were reported last night to be in a weakened condition, states a report dated September 14. Dr. Dafoe, the physician in attendance, while admitting anxiety about their condition, expressed the hope that immediate danger was past. All five infants have been losing weight, but yesterday Yvonne, Cecile and Marie regained their previous weight levels, and only one, Annette, had a further setback. Dr. Dafoe has ordered extra nursing care and has forbidden all visitors. He has called into consultation Dr. Alan Brown, of Toronto, a child specialist of international reputation. The infants are now IQB days old, aud their aggregate weight yesterday was 331 b 12oz, Yvonne, the heaviest, being 81b and Marie, the lightest, 51b Boz. Dr. Dafoe attributes the children’s ailment to their present cramped quarters, and hopes soon to move them into a new hospital.
