FOXTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent). LINTON Oct. 30. The Linton District Rifle Club held a dance on Fridav in the hall. Music was supplied by the local orchestra, and extras were played by Mrs Sharp, Messrs M. Greer and N. Woods. Mr H. Guriin, vicepresident of the club, presented the various trophies won by the members throughout the season. The results of the ladies competition were: Mrs R. Craw (cup donated by Mr Merlin Craw) 1, Mrs G. Mcrriman 2, Mrs A. Dunshea. 3. Mr J. Christenson was the winner of the Craw Challenge Cup. Mr C. Hampson was the winner of the Cdllinson Cup. There, were two beautiful challenge cups also won by the club this season. A box of sweets donated by Miss A. Craw was won by Mr S. Moyes, and cigarettes were won by j Towler. The novelty dances wore won by Miss J- Hallman and Mr A. Reid (Monte Carlo waltz), Miss F. Heard and Mr O. Terry (statue dance). Mr U. Batchelar carried out the ■ duties ot IVI.G. SuDucr was handed round and dancing continued till the early hours of the morninMr and Mrs Sharp, of Wellington, have been visiting Linton. Mrs D. Craw, of Auckland, is also a visitor to this district. Mr L. Wilson, of the Auckland police force is visiting his parents in Linton. Mrs Hallman, of Linton, visited Yer'siston last week to bid farewell to her sis ter Misa Everett, who left on a VISI * Australia. Friends of Mrs C. Copeland will be pleased to learn that she .has returned home from hospital and 1S ing- steady progress towards recovery. Friends of Mrs H. Grice will regret to learn that she is ill and will wish her a speedy recovery. . Influenza is still very prevalent in tins district.
