All those members of committees who assisted in the recent Charity Ball are invited to attend a meeting at the City Council Chambers on Thursday afternoon at 4.40, when a statement will be presented showing the result of this great effort. The Palmerston North Central Relief Committee have benefited considerably from this effort and those responsible for its success will have an opportunity of hearing how well it was carried out. A large attendance is expected . The Unempoyment Board inserts a notice that the next instalment of the unemployment levy will ■ fall due to-morrow (November 1), and that on the same date the third instalment of the emergency unemployment charge of lOd in the £1 on income other than salary or wages will also become due. Men employed on a rationed basis under Scheme No. 5, workers in receipt of sustenance, all camp workers except those employed at standard rates of pay, and gold-prospectors in receipt of a subsidy from tho Unemployment Board will providing they are eligiblo, pay a levy of only Is, but all other eligible men will be liable for a payment of ss. With the exception of the men in camp ony, the men who have been eligible for relief for at least one month prior to the date upon which the levy falls duo may claim the light to pay the reduced levy.
