CHANGE IN TRAINING. The military correspondent of the London Daily Telegraph says: “An important reorientation of policy is indicated by instructions to the General Staff that next year training of the army at homo will be primarily towards preparation for European warfare. Hitherto training has been based on colonial warfare, and the enemy uu» been represented as savage tribesmen or Asiatics with a low standard of equipment. This is designed to develop initiative and put a premium on constant alertness, but now the authorities are facing the possibility that the army will be employed on the Continent, :iiu modernisation is proceeding.
