CARS RESCUED FROM MUD.

INCIDENT AT FOXTON BEACH

The timely arrival of a lady and her son, with lever and planks, saved two cars from treacherous mud near the jetty at Alanawatu Heads late on Sunday night. Digging operations by the occupants of the cars were unavailing and merely made matters worse. Eventually, working with the tide washing around them, the motorists, aided by the lever and planks supplied to them, succeeded in lifting the rear wheels of one car on to the wood. The tide had just reached the second car as it was bucked away after similar operations. Appreciation was expressed of the assistance given by the lady and her son, also a neighbour who had.all previously retired for the night. Thanks were also expressed to the beach storekeepers, who also assisted.
