DANES REACH DARWIN.

TROUBLES ON THE FLIGHT.

Received October 30, 9.55 a.m. DARWIN, Oct. 30. Hansen, of the Danish Air Force, and his companion, Jensen, a Danish Air Force mechanic, reached here at 6.17 last night from Koepang. They were the eighth fliers in the race to reach Australia. Their time from London was approximately 9 days, 2 hours, 15 minutes. They have not been without thentroubles during the race. They had to make a landing at Victoria Point when their petrol ran out, and at Alor Star their ’plane was bogged in the mud when a tropical thunderstorm sent down over two inches of rain in fifteen minutes. The ’plane is not fitted with dual control, so Hansen has been practically a solo flier with Jensen as mechanic and navigator.
