CIVIL ACTION.

SEQUEL TO BURGLARIES

Per Press Association. AVELLINGTON, Oct, 30.

Civil proceedings were taken in the Magistrate’s Court to-day against the brothers Cudby who were sentenced last week in the Supreme Court for burglary offences. Rev. Thomas Retallick Richards and Arthur Edmondson sued the Cudbys, also Atervyn Cudby’s wife, both claiming £27, which they alleged was sto'eu by the male defendants from their houses. The case is defended on behalf of Airs Cudby on the ground that the money she has in the bank was given to her by her husband and is the result of horse racing. She denies any knowledge of dishonesty in connection with it. The' case is proceeding.
