SYMCONY DEPARTS.

TO CONTEST WELCOME STAKES. The Gascony two-year-old filly Symcony, who is to contest the Welcome Stakes at the New Zealand Cup meeting, left for the south yesterday afternoon in charge of A. Lloyd, head lad to G. W. New at Awapuni. The filly, who went north to contest the Welcome Stakes at Ellerslie, only to be narrowly beaten by Galilee, won the Musket Stakes on the second day and in her four outings to date she has won twice and been second on two occasions. It will surprise if the filly does not add still further to her stake winning account on the southern trip.
