WEST END TENNIS CLUB.

At the week-end the West End tennis courts were opened for the season. Mr A. Penketh, in performing the ceremony, referred reminiscently to tennis generally, and said the large number present, approximately 50, augured well for the future of the club.

Mr Reichenbaeh (secretary) mentioned that the club had sustained a loss owing to the departure of Mr and Mrs F. J. Patterson for New Plymouth. Mr Patterson had been president of the club since its inception and th© present satisfactory position was greatly contributed to by his efforts. Mrs Patterson had been a prominent player and member of the club’s competition team. After the official opening several enjoyable games were played.
