AIR RACE PILOTS
TOUR OF DOMINION,
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Oct. 30,
Doubt as to whether the aero clubs of New Zealand would feel justified in guaranteeing as much as £6OOO was expressed by the president of the Auckland Aero Club (Mr Spencer Mason) in commenting on the suggestion that the Centenary air race pilots be invited to tour New Zealand. He said each of the ten clubs would have to guarantee between £SOO and £6OO.
He supposed the clubs could expect a fair proportion of the guarantees would be recouped, but in the absence of full details of the scheme it aplpearecl rather an ambitious one. Personally, he thought the tour to be made by Messrs Hewett and Kay and McGregor and Walker would be almost as good. Earlier messages relating to the above appear on pages 2 and 7. THE MANAWATU PILOTS. LUNCH CLUB’S CONGRATULATIONS. Recording its appreciation with applause, the Palmerston North Citizens’ Lunch Club to-day passed a resolution congratulating the two Manawatu pilots, Messrs McGregor and Walker, on the remarkable success which had attended their flight from Mildenhall to Melbourne.
