BUNNYTHORPE WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
The Bunnythorpe Women’s Institute held its monthly meeting on Wednesday last, Mrs Jackson presiding over a fair attendance. Visitors were welcomed and Mises O’Hagan, Jepson, and Mrs Notall were elected members. Apologies for absence were received from Misses L. M. and N. Greenhow. An account of the Levin federation meeting was read by the delegate. It was decided to put the next two meetings forward a week; the November meeting to be held on November 21 and the December meeting on December 12. When the business had been disposed of, the junior members entertained the seniors for the remainder of the afternoon, community, singing and various games being enjoyed by all, Miss L. Gore being the winner of the sketching competition, Mrs Jackson the cake competition and Miss O’Hagan the musical competition. Miss R. Donald rendered a pianoforte solo which was much apperciated. A roll-call, “Where I First Met My Husband” and “My Ideal Husband” was entered into very heartily and proved very popular. The points competition for seniors, for the best article made from sixpence worth of material, brought forward a good display of entries, and the Tesults were: Mrs Eagle 1, Mrs Burrell 2; juniors, best sixpence worth of groceries, Miss G. Burrell, 1, Miss R. Donald 2. Next month’s competitions will he: Seniors, six pieces of shortbread ; juniors, six pikelets. The afternoon should be very interesting, as the institute will have Miss Grant giving us a talk on Waitangi and Mrs Mason Durie demonstrating Maori crafts. The hostesses for next month are Mesdames G. Duthie. Anderson, L. AVoods and Misses B. Donald, M. Woods and G. Burrell.
