PAHIATUA.

PAHIATUA, Oct. 27. Mr W. Sneddon, late chief engineer on the Remuera, and his sister. Mrs Pitcher, are visiting their aunt, Mrs Daldy, of Mrs V. J. Scott is spending a holiday as the guest of Mrs F. Burrell, at Levin. Mrs J. Peterson, who was the guest of Mrs J. McGlashan, of Rongom&i, has entered the Pahiatua Hospital, where she is undergoing, treatment. Mrs Arnold Palmer, of Wellington, and Miss Gwen Boyd, of Hataitai, have been spending the week as the guests of Matron G: Berry. The public meeting in the Borough Council Chambers last evening, called to discuss the arangements for celebrating the jubilee of the Pahiatua District High School which next year will have been in existence for fifty years, was attended by several members of the committee, old residents, and even one of the original pupils, Mrs W. McCradle. Mr G. GodIroy Taylor (chairman of the School Committee) presided and apologised for the unavoidable absence of the headmaster (Mr J- Marsh) who, however, had promised that the staff would' render all assistance possible to make some fitting commemoration.
