THE CENTENARY THOUSAND. MELBOURNE, Oct. 26. In the sixth stage of the Centenary Thousand Cycle Race, Mithouard (France), after several punctures and a broken wheel, announced bis retirement. Although riding conditions were shocking, the original route over the mountains was adhered to, freshly-fallen snow adding to the difficulties. Mithouard held the lead in the championship aggregate. Opperman also suffered many mishaps, and his chances of the championship are diminishing. _ Milliken is now ineligible owing ,to his having received assistance from a police motor-cyclist, Watson (New Zealand) is still riding well.
