DUKE OF GLOUCESTER.
IN BUSH COUNTRY. SIDNEY, Oct. 26. The Duke of Gloucester to-day enjoyed a motor tour of the southern coastal belt of New South Wales among tall timber, mountain ridges and tree ferns, which make the most picturesque scenery in Australia. He had lunch in a bark hut, drank billy tea, and listened attentively to whip birds and kookaburras. The outing contrasted sharply with the glamour of the State Ball at Canberra last night. The storm ceased before the Duke crossed the Victorian border, and sunshine gleamed through the trees along the winding forest road. As the procession of cars swept round hairpin bends, road workers and settlers at isolated farms gathered to cheer the Duke as he passed.
