CENTRAL SCHOOL.
A special meeting of the Central School committee was held at the school on Wednesday evening to consider arrangements for a gala day There weie present Messrs A. E. lverslake (deputy chairman), W. H. Cadwallader ivsectetary), L. Simmonds, E. Bary (headmaster), and Mesdames Evans (chairwoman of the ladies’ committee) Jairott (secretary), Garden, Diuistan, Wass, Matthew, Denham, Drake and Withers. It was tentatively decided to hold a gala day in December and to combine a swimming carnival and display of the pupils’ work. A produce stall, sweet stall and cake stall are to be held and a weight-guessmg competition in addition to drill displays by pupils. A band will be in attendance and there are to bo many amusements for young and old.
