BOWLING.

A match for the Veterans’ Vase, the first contest of the season, was played yesterday afternoon on the Terrace End Club’s green. Terrace End finished up last season with five successive wins, and held the vase. They suffered defeat yesterday, however, from Northern after a most enjoyable afternoon’s play. The rinks were as follow:

Northern: Palmer, Thornley, Hodder, Robinson (skip) 23 v. Terrace End: Knowles, Ashton, Toogood, Thomas, (skip) 9.
