The Union Pacific stream-lined train to-day reached New York from Los Angeles, completing the run in 56 hours 56 minutes. The previous record, established in 1906, was 71 hours 27 minutes. The 376 ft train, powered by a 900 horse-power Diesel engine, covered 3259 miles from Los Angeles.

At one period, between Chicago and New York, the train set a world record speed of 120 miles an hour. A FRENCH PERFORMANCE. BY MOTOR TRAIN. LONDON, Oct. 25. Coinciding with a report from America that a streamlined tram had travelled at 120 miles an hour, the Daily Mail’s Paris correspondent wires that a motor-driven train at Le Mans averaged 120 miles an Hour over a measured four miles.
