Mr Vincent H. Freeth, formerly of Palmerston North, who has for some years been director of the Catts-Pat-terson Company (N.Z.), Ltd., with headquarters at Wellington, left yesterday to join the Sydney directorate of the company.

Mr Cecil C. Brinton, M.A., a past Mayor of Kidderminster, England, and borough magistrate of that town and county magistrate of Worcester, occupied the Bench with Mr W. F. Stilwell, S.M., at the sitting of the Wellington Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Warm tributes to the secretary of the Wellington Hospital Board, Mr R. Brown, who is resigning the secretaryship owing to ill-health after nearly 25 years’ service, were paid at a meeting of the board last night. The board granted Mr Brown nine mouths’ leave of absence on full pay. He will relinquish his duties on November 1. Mr j [3. Cook, accountant to the board, was appointed acting-secretary.—Press Association.
