FOOD CONSUMPTION.
INCREASE IN BRITAIN. BUTTER AND'Eg'gS PROMINENT. Received October 25, 11.25 a.m. ROME, Oct. 24. During the past four years of depression Britain has consumed 40 per cent, more butter, 31 per cent, more eggs, 35 per cent. more poultry, and 25 per cent, more fruit than in the previous four years, said Mr Earl La Warr, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, when addressing the general assembly of the In stitute of Agriculture here. “That is surely a great contribution to the restoration of prosperity. If everybody in Europe ate the bare health minimum for them there would be little talk of a glut,” he said.
