HOROWHENUA
(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Oct. 19. Air Foster, of Nelson, father of Mrs Hcmvood, Otaki Beach, with his daughter, Aliss Foster, is spending a holiday in Otaki.
Petty thieving is still prevalent in Otaki, and recently _ a battery was removed from a lorry left in Main Street. The annual re-union in connection with the Otagi Volunteer iFro Brigade was held at tho fire station on Wednesday night, when Superintendent Cockrell presided. The room had been effectively decorated for the occasion, and the tables set out in pleasing style. Among those present were representatives of local bodies and organisations from further afield.
A meeting of the committee of tho Otaki Football Club was held last night Air D. Richards presiding. A motion of condolence was passed to the relatives of the late Air D. D’Ath, all standing. The bal-ance-sheet in connection with the recent dance showed a slight deficit and it was agreed that, as there were a few outstanding accounts, to hold another function. A vote of thanks, was accorded to Mr W. Lithgow for donating a gift of coal for a competition.
