MR GANDHI’S POSITION.

SUPPORT AND DISSENT. CALCUTTA, Oct. 20. Although Mr Gandhi has reaffirmed his decision to retire from the Congress leadership, he continues to meet bitter opposition from the Socialist wing party, whose spokesman, Massani, at a provincial meeting at Bombay declared he and his supporters had- no confidence in Mr Gandhi’s leadership because his policy programme was impracticable and unacceptable to the majority of Congressmen. A resolution expressing confidence in Mr Gandhi and appealing to him to reconsider his decision to retire was passed by 32 votes to 13, the Socialists voting against it.
