APITI, Oct. 18.
Air A. F. Stewart presided at a meeting of managers of the Apiti Presbyterian Church. Alesdames W. Al. Duncan, A. Benoscman, Alisses Cowan, AI. Paterson and Aiessrs J. H. Cowan, S. Alnrtin, K. Cowan, R. McKenzie, W. Martin and C. Spence were present. Messrs C. Spence and K. Cowan were re-elected secretary and treasurer respectively and were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their services to the church. Air Spence reported that the spouting of the church building needed replacing and it was decided to have this done. Air L. Paterson kindly offered to do the work. Several other matters of interest to the church were discussed and it was decided to have the church painted. At the residence of her mother, Airs J. Smith, Aliss Julia Wilson, a popular young member of the Ridge Road community, received a number of her friends who came along to wish her many happy returns of her birthday. A happy evening was spent in dancing, various games and interesting competitions. Lucky tickets drawn by little Valerio Youlo wore held by Mrs R. Jacobs and Alt R. Brown. An “observation” tray .competition was won by Aliss T. Smith and Airs R. Brown, and “chocolate wrappers” resulted in Aliss Wilson being presented with a handsome box of chooolates. Aire J. Smith sang two songs which were appreciated, and Air R. Brown contributed humorous monologues. At supper time the iced birthday cake was the centre of admiration. Air Al. Jacob voiced tho good wishes of all present and the guest of the evening was accorded musical honours.
