RULES OF THE HOUSE
QUESTION OF PRIVILEGE RAISED.
DIVULGING OF EVIDENCE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 21. In the House of Representatives today, Mr A. D. McLeod, as chairman of the Industries and Commerce Committee, raised a point of privilege. He said the evidence given by the secretary of the New Zealand Master Bakers’- Association had been distributed to members of the House. No doubt it had been done inadvertently or through want of knowledge, but under the rules of Parliament it was apparently a breach of privilege. The Speaker ruled that a prima facie case had been made out. He said it might not be generally known that it was not permissible to divulge the evidence given before a committee. The matter was referred to the Committee of Privilege.
