THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL.
A great deal of pleasure will be given to the farming community of the district, and to the residents of Palmerston North, if His Excellency the GovernorGeneral is able to accede to the request to open the Spring Show of the Manawatu A. and P. Association. Before next year’s fixtures come round His Excellency and the Lady Bledisloe shall have returned to England, leaving a gap in the Dominion’s life that their successors may find dif-
ficult to adequately fill. His Excellency has taken a wide interest in our farming problems. His wise counsel and extensive farming knowledge and practice have always been at the disposal of rural interests, who have gained in substantial measure from the advice given. He has during his term of residence given the greatest pleasure to rural organisations in attending their functions, and the Manawatu Association has been very proud and pleased to welcome him at its Shows, at one of which he exhibited a cheese from his own factory in England to acquaint our cheesemakers of the quality desired by British people, while he also gave a cup to stimulate the production of the best class of bacon for the British market. In all aspects of New Zealand’s life he has shown practical sympathy and a refreshing intention to proclaim ' the pleasure, that awnits tourisms from Britain by including the Dominion in their itinerary. A warm welcome will be accorded Their Excellencies if they are able to visit Palmerston North when the Spring Show is held.
