PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT’S TRIBUTE.
INTEREST AT HOME,
(British Official Wireless.) Received September 20, 12.13 p.m. RUGBY, Sept. 19. President Roosevelt, who lias been a keen and expert spectator of both events in the America’s Cup contest, said he had never seen two closer or better sailed races in any cup series. He will also watch the third race, but will then have to return to his summer residence.
The third contest will be over the windward and leeward course. The weather forecast is for moderate north and north-west winds with clouds. Nowhere' does the news of the Endeavour’s two successes give greater satisfaction than among the yacht building community of Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. The work people of Comper and Nicholson’s yard, at Gosport, who built the Endeavour, assembled there to hear the broadcast commentaries of both races and large crowds gathered in those towns to await the results.
