ORCHESTRAL CONCERT.
AT CUBA STREET CHURCH. An enjoyable orchestral and vocal programme was uresented last evening at the Cuba Street Alethodist Church schoolroom, when the Palmerston North Broadcasting Orchestra, under the conductorship of Mr J. Dale, assisted by a number of wellknown entertainers, delighted an audience of good proportions. For two hours a splendidly-balanced programme was received with rapt attention, and the appreciation of the audience in being treated to so fine a selection was apparent. The majority of the presentations by the orchestar were of an ambitious nature, and the manner in which they were treated, with an eye to balance and sweetness, proved very satisfying. Careful selection of the vocal numbers was combined with artistry to assure the enjoyment of them. Rev. H. L. Richards, minister of the church, for the assistance of the trust funds of which the concert had been arranged, welcomed the audience and entertainers at the commencement, and at the conclusion expressed keen appreciation of the delightful programme. The programme was as follows : Orchestra, “Arlette”; vocal solos, Alaster Teddy Jamieson (with orchestra); instrumental trio, “Gavotte Louis XIII,” “Abended” ; vocal solos, Airs H. Dean; orchestra, “Fragment of the Unfinished Symphony”; vocal solos, Air Whitelock; violin solos, Mr Gough; ventriloquism, Mr King; vocal solos, Aliss L. McDonald; orchestra, “Valse des Alouettes,” “Wounded Friend.” Air C. W. Teppett was the accompanist.
