RONGOTEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, Sopt. 19. A distressingly painful accident befell Ngairc. the fivc-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Sterne, of Rongotea, this morning. The child was playing close to the house and was alone for a few minutaes, when her mother found her bleeding from a serious wound across the throat below the chin. It is thought that the child was swinging and fell and was cut on a tin. She was hurriedly taken to a doctor in Palmerston North. It afterwards became necessary to remove her to the Hospital for treatment. She is doing as well as can be expected. . , The Rongotea Horticultural Society s Spring Show was continued last evening, when there was a splendid attendance of the public which proved very encouraging to the committee. Mrs A. J. M ill presented the trophies won during the show, and thanked all who had assisted to make it such a success. The programme was contributed by local iriends, as follows Misses Gand E. y Amey, duet; Miss D. Matheson, ''lo- Miss J. Bower, elocutionary item; Mr .\ Rowe, steel guitar solo; Mrs A. Sanson, colo- Miss A. Buchanan, pianoforte solo, Mr D. Rowe, solo; Miss M. Will, pianoforte solo. - ■
