MILSON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILSON, Sept. 9. The monthly meeting of tho Milson Progressive Association was held in the hall to-day, Mr J. C. A. Donaldson (chairman) presiding. Also present were the following executive members: Messrs Cummings, Taylor, Sinclair, Thompson, Richmond, and Gilbert (secretary). The district engineer of railways advised that the railway residences had been examined, and those requiring metal for yards and paths would be supplied with it. It was reported that rumours were current that the weekly socials were to be discontinued. Members spoke of the benefits the evenings were to local residents, and they are to be continued. The chairman reported on the progress of relief work in the settlement, advising that the children’s playing area was now receiving attention. Tire statement of accounts from the social evenings was presented by the secretary. This showed a slight debit balance, which was considered normal for this period of tho year. The matter of making provision for legal access to the playing area was raised by a member. It was explained that an arrangement already existed with tho School Committee for pedestrian traffic, and as far as vehicular traffic was concerned there was no immediate need for access. The matter was held in abeyance.

A large “working bee,” consisting of members of the Milson Tennis Club, was at work at the courts during the weekend. The club has on hand a comprehensive scheme of improvements, and from tho disorderly array of a week or so back order is gradually emerging. The foundation work in connection with the three courts has been completed by the contractor, and topdressing is in program. The whole area is being fenced by volunteer "labour, and to date an the posts have been erected and set in concrete, and the work of erecting the wire-netting commenced. The undertaking completed, the club will be in possession of three first-class courts, free of and a successful season is assured.
