PAHIATUA
' PAHIATUA, Sept. 10. At the meeting of the Pahiatua County Council on Saturday, the overseer (Mr, S. Mcßae) said that rubbish was being dumped at the bottom of Hall’s Road. So much was placed on the river bed lately that when the council sent its teams down there for metal it took four men three days to clear the rubbish before the drays could get through. Dumping bad been stopped at the borough bridge and now it was being carried out at the bottom of Hall’s Road. The council decided that the practice should stop and that the public be warned accordingly. The council agreed to a suggestion from the Commissioner of Crown Lands that an area of 35 acres should be added to the Woodville Domain. The area is of 35 acres and is known as the Ferry Reserve. Mrs J. D. Wilson lias been visiting Mrs R. Beard, Kimbolton. A bridge evening was held at the home of Mrs D. Rutherford, of Makuri, in aid of funds for the Mangatainoka parish. The prizewinners were: Ladies, Miss Jean Crawford; men, Mr A. Poulton. The parish funds will benefit to the extent of some £7.
