JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS.

APPROVAL OF ARRANGEMENTS

Arrangements lor the jubilee celebrations of the Terrace End School, in November next, were discussed at a general meeting held on Thursday, when Mr W. B. Tennent presided over an attendance of about forty. Reporting on behalf of the central executive, the secretary (Mr H. Blackwood) submitted the programme they had adopted. This, providing principally for a sports meeting and gala day, dance and reunion, as well as a reunion banquet and thanksgiving service, was approved. Mr W. S. Woodroofe, convener of the dance and banquet committee, reported that owing to uncertainty regarding the probable extent ot the attendance, no decision had been reached as to where the functions would be held. Charges were arranged at about 3s for the banquet aud 2s for the dance. Mr Woodroofe also reported that a dance was to be held in the Terrace End Bowling Club’s pavilion shortly to raise funds, also that Dll's Gooding had kindly offered to provide the orchestra free of charge. On behalf of the publicity committee, Dir T. F. Fairbrother reported that the rolls dating back to-1899 had been perused and circulars were being despatched to old pupils. Dir Jamieson reported that the transport committee was arranging for a motor drive of about 27 miles on the Saturday morning of the celebrations. Held over from a previous meeting, the question of wearing a suitable badge made of celluloid was discussed, and it was decided to obtain badges similar to the sample submitted. It was also decided to sell them to expupils on enrolment for 2s 6d. The badges will be sold at 6d each to the present school children. Mrs J. Barsanti reported on behalf of the afternoon tea committee that an enthusiastic meeting had been held, and arrangements were' well forward. She stated that the services of more helpers -were required. The question of the school children participating in a floral fete was raised and it was decided to leave this to the School Committee and Mr A. W. Thompson (headmaster). ?
