HOCKEY UMPIRES.
The Manawatu Hockey Umpires’ Association met on Thursday. Mr A. E. Blackbourn was the chairman, others present being Misses J. Crawford and F. Highlield, Messrs H. Byers, F. McLachlan, I. Gerrand, E. Pullyn, D. Wilton, L. Martin, R. Hoare, L. V. Winks and M. A. Levy (secretary). The chairman presented a report on the combined meeting of umpires held last month. Correspondence was received from the Manawatu Ladies’ Hockey Association in connection with junior representative fixtures. A letter was read from the _ Manawatu Hockey Association, notifying the meeting of the examination of sticks which is to take place on Wednesday. After the formal affairs of the meeting had been dealt with Mr Blackbourn gave an interesting talk on several rules.
