FRIENDLY SOCIETIES

ROYAL ARCH CHAPTER, No- 10, U.A.O.D. The twelvth annual meeting of the R.A.C. No. 10, was held m the Rialto Hall on Monday night, June 11, there being a good attendance or niembeis, also visitors from Wellington, Levin and Pahiatua. Apologies were received from a number of members who were unavoidably absent. 1.1 • Broil. H. Ure presided at the request ot the R.A.D., Sis. G. Osman, who was welcomed back after a period of absence through illness. -the following officers were elected for the current year:—P.P., Sis. G. Osman; R.A.D., Bro. H. R. Hughes; R.V.A. Bro. A. H. Lowndes; 1.G., Bro. G. Gulliver; R.A.B.’s, Sis. M. Lennox and Bro. A. P. Butcher; lt.V.B.’s, Bros. R. Andrew and J. McC. Arthur. The treasurer and secretary still retain office. P.S. Bro. H. S.' Abel (Wellington), assisted by II.S. Bro. R. H. Johnson (Levin) as M.C., capably carried out the duties of installing officer, this being Bro. Abel’s twelvth installation of the officers of Chapter No. 10. A vote of thanks to Bro. Abel -was carried by acclamation, as was also a vote of thanks to the visitors. Bro. Abel addressed the meeting at some length, expressing pleasure at being present, and gave the officers and members sound words of advice. Bro. J. F. Young (R.A.D. Chapter No. 2, Levin) and Bros. G. Blackwell and T. A. Mollison (R.A.D. and treasurer respectively, Chapter No. 1, Wellington) also addressed the meeting. A motion that future annual meetings he held in March was carried unanimously. The balance-sheet was received and adopted, and sundry accounts passed for payment. The meeting then terminated, all present sitting down to a dainty supper,, during which Bro. Abel was asked to convey to Mrs Abel, on behalf of Garry Abel, a suitably engraved silver porridge bowl set in case, from members of the R.A.C. No. 10. On behalf of Mrs Abel and their son, Bro. Abel suitably replied. An hour’s sociable chat brought the evening to a close.
