Lyons that the only permanent and satisfactory solution of the differences between the United Australia. Party and the Country Party is a complete union of the two parties and their organisations throughout the Commonwealth. He said that to revive the old aigument between the parties on the subject or amalgamation! mitt all its .nov.toUe recriminations, oil the eve of an elec tion would be the most certain way of making a present of the election to Tjabour forces. . , The Country Party was willing to discuss with the United Australia Party the whole question of the major policy on which the election would he contested. The Country Party asked only for a common understanding on the major policy and for joint Senate terms throughout Australia.
