The weokly shoot of the Linton District Rifle Club was held on Wednesday evening when the following scores were recorded : J. Christensen. 69 —69 —138; D. Mcßreaty, 70—68—138; M. Free, 67—69—136; G. Tho Women’s Institute committee meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon when final arrangements were made for the local show and tho institute stall at the Agricultural Show next month; both should be a great success if every member of the instituto makes an effort to do her best work. On Monday evening last Air and Mrs S. Irvine gave a delightful party at thenresidence in honour of Miss Phyllis Mead, of Nelson. The time was most enjoyably spent in community singing, amusing games and dancing, the spacious sittingroom being cleared for the dance. Among those present were Air and Airs T. Lynch, Alisses A. Craw, L. Irvine, AI, AI. and N. Lynch, L. Rix, B. Currin, P. Green, A'iessrs J. Irvine, O. and R. Batchelar, J. Lynch, L. AYilson, G. Wilson, T. Aloyes, AI Greer, G. Rix, AI. Craw. At the conclusion of the happy party “For they are jolly good Fellows’’ and “Auld Lang Syne,” wero heartily sung and cheers were called for Air and Airs Irvine and Aliss Alead. Mls s Gwen Knipe. of Auckland, is spending a hoilday in Linton as the guest of Airs C. Aldrich. Repairs and painting of the local school were carried out during the vacation. The school reopened on Alonday last.
