GOLF.
WILSON CUP MATCH. During the week-end, at Hokowhitu, the Manawatu Golf Club will play its first defensive match to retain the Wilson Cup, the keenly contested in-ter-club trophy, which it won recently from the Wanganui Club, after several years’ strenuous efforts. The first challengers are the Napier Club, who are sending a strong team. Goodwin. PALMERSTON NORTH CLUB. The first challenge for the Nathan Cup, which is still held by the Palmerston North Golf Club, has been received from the Pahiatua Golf Club. The match will take place during the weekend. The following players will represent the Palmerston North Club: —H. AV. Kerr (captain), AV. D. Olney, .J. Ramsay, D. Tottman, R. McMurray, C. Bryan, R. Looney, G. Tremaine, A. A r . Pizzey, AV. D. Reid, H. Bennett, R. M. Brien. Reserves: E. Simpson, D. H. Cook, T. B. Arlidge. An inter-club match between the two clubs will also be played, the following players representing the Palmerston North Club: —A. AV._ Chapman, R. Ramsay, L. G. Sinclair, H. Bott, C. Yoss, G. C. Francis, J. A. Colquhoun, R. L. Gibbs. Reserves: F. Raven, S. A. Oxenliam. Play will commence as soon as the Pahiatua players arrive, which is expected to be shortly after 9 a.m. Match play will be confined to the morning and friendly games with the visitors will be arranged for the afternoon.
