PAHIATUA.
PAHIATUA, Mav 23. Mr F. Cormack, who was educated in Paliiatua and at Wellington College, has been appointed to the staff of the primary department at Scots College, Wellington. Last term he was relieving teacher at the Hukanui School. There was an excellent attendance at the quarterly meeting of Loyal Mangatainolca Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F. N.G. Bro. W. Ridley presided. Accounts amounting to £BO 14s 2d were passed ffor payment. A welcome was extended to a visitor from Loyal Egmont Lodge. The election of officers for the ensuing term resulted:—N.G., Bro. S. A. Matthews; V.G., Bro. K. R. Pryde ; 8.5., Bro. A. E. South. The offi-cers-elect were installed in their respective chairs by the L.M., P.G., Bro. H. R. Yewen. The basketball competitions are now in their fourth week and players are keener than ever. Eleven teams have again entered the competitions. The championship tables are as under:—Seniors: Athletic A 6 points, Waratahs 2, Konini 2, Woodville 2, Athletic B 0. Junior: Convent 6, High School 6, Woodville 4, Konini 2, Athletic A 0, Athletic B 0.
