Attention is drawn to an advertisement appearing in this issue to a meeting of business people to bo hold in the Commerce Buildings, Broadway, on Thursday evening next, May 24th, at 8 p.m. Several business men are responsible for convening the meeting. They consider that the proposal of the Unemployment Board to take numbers of our local relief workers and put them at tree planting in the bleak snow-driven Ivaingaroa Plains is grossly unjust, and will nofc_ be beneficial to any interest in the Dominion. An emphatic protest will also bo entered against the present rates of sustenance being introduced. The Mayor will preside.
