LOST AIR LINER.
DISCOVERY OF WRECKAGE. LONDON, May 9. In connection with the crash and disappearance of the French Channel service aeroplane, the Daily Express reports that its searching aeroplane located a patch of oil of about 100 square yards and floating remnants of fabric and wood. A report that a lifeboat was towing the wreckage of the air liner is incorrect. The News-Chronicle' says tjnit fog is believed to have caused the disaster, the pilot trying to seek visibility at a lower altitude, the machine striking the waves. AIISS BATTEN’S PROGRESS. LONDON, Alay 10. Aliss Jean Batten yesterday reached Athens, and left to-day for Cyprus at 7 a.m. in continuation of her flight to Australia. ON TO DAMASCUS. (British Official "Wireless.) Received Alay 11. 11.5 a.m. RUGBY, Alay 10. Aliss Jean Batten, in continuation of her England to Australia solo flight, landed at Cyprus this afternoon and left later in favourable weather for Damascus. AIR ULAI DELAYED. TILL THIS EVENING. SYDNEY, Alay 10. Air C. T. P. Ulm lias received an unfavourable weather report, and therefore is postponing his flight until Friday night, when it is expected that conditions will be considerably improved.
