John Mably, aged eleven, died in the Ashburton Hospital from internal injuries resulting from a fall off a bicycle at Mayfield. The boy was sitting on the bar of a bicycle ridden by another boy, who fell on him.

The largest number of applications for reinstatement to the Rugby Union game from Rugby League that the New Zealand Rugby Union has had at one time was dealt with at last night’s meeting of the management committee. The majority of the 113 applications came from Auckland and Wellington, but Canterbury, the AA 7 est Coast and North Auckland figured prominently on the list.
