HOOKING OF BALL.
RUGBY UNION’S DECISION. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 19. An anouncement that, in response to an unofficial enquiry from England, the management committee had indicated that it was willing to agree to the suggestion to delete rule 151, regarding the hooking of the ball, was made by the chairman, Mr S. S. Dean, at to-day’s meeting of the Now Zealand Rugby Football Union. Rule 151 reads: No player in a scrummage shall raise a foot off the ground or advance either foot beyond the line of feet of his front row forwards until the ball is fairly in the scrummage, and the first three feet of the front row forwards of each team on the side on which the ball is being put in, shall pot be raised or advanced until the ball lias passed. The action of the committee was approved.
