BOOKSELLERS’ CONFERENCE.
WELLINGTON, April 19. Booksellers Trom all over New Zealand gathered on Wednesday at Wellington, when the thirteenth annual conference of the Associated Booksellers of New Zealand took place. Mr G. H. Bennett, president (Palmerston North), occupied the chair. In extending a welcome to delegates, Mr Bennett referred to the general improvement in trading and financial conditions overseas, and the increased prices received for wool in New Zealand, from which it was reasonable to assume that there would be an early reflection in New Zealand, and that the country could look forward with a degree of optimism to the future. Pleasure was expressed at the loyalty displayed by booksellers toward their association, as indicated by the continned support accorded. It was decided that the location of the next, annual conference be left to the next incoming council. Mr B. TO. H. Whitcombe (Christchurch), was elected president in place of Mr Bennett, who retired.
