OTAGO SWIMMER’S EFFORT. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, April 19. W. J. Jarvis made an attack on Noel Crump’s New Zealand record of 55 1-5 seconds for the 100 yards at the municipal baths to-night. Although unsuccessful, his time of 56 1-5 seconds is the fastest ever done in the Dominion in fresh water, Crump’s record having been established in the salt water baths at Auckland. The Otago Swimming Centre has decided to renew its representations to the New Zealand Council with respect to the inclusion of Jarvis in the Dominion team for the Empire Games and is prepared to undertake to had the necessary funds in Dunedin.
