FROM STABLE AND COURSE.
(By “Binocular.”) H. Turner, who suffered concussion when Rational II fell with him at Riccarton on Easter Monday, has resumed riding work in the south. Argentic has been put aside and his trainer, C. McCarthy, has recommissioned Monastic, who looks big after a long spell. •ebel Star’s form has attracted offers (comments a southern writer), but so far the price has not been sufficiently attractive to lead to business. The three-year-old Mungacre was sore after running a good third to Hushing and Senior in the Eden Handicap at Ellerslie, and his owner deemed it advisable to relieve him of his engagements at Avondale. Mungacre’s trouble is not regarded as serious. After racing at Avondale Royal Gallant was transferred to F. Smith’s stablo at Takanini. Royal Gallant ran two creditable races at Avondale and, as ho is partial to soft tracks, he may be capblo of showing improved form at the coining meetings. Smith is training Greek Gold for the same owner. Two more failures were recorded against Record Flight at Avondale, but lie displayed speed and also gave an indication that he is acquiring a little more stamina. Record Flight is a good type. of gelding who may yet fulfill the promise he gave 1 earlier. Being by Lucullus, he should be able to handle heavy tracks. Mr H. McLeod, who originally took Araunah across to Australia, was a visitor to Palmerston North ion Tuesday. He has an Australian trainer’s liconso and, in addition to the grey, has two or three horses under his charge across the Tasman.
