CARNARVON.

(From Our Own Correspondent ) . . CARNARVON, April 15. A meeting of the men’s hockey club was held on Wednesday evening, a fair number of members being present. It was decided to enter a team in the Feilding competition. Prospects for the new season are bright, most of the old players being available and the new ones having the reputation of knowing the game. If the players can early develop that combination which is so essential to success, then they should give a good account of themselves and uphold Carnarvon’s name as it has been upheld by former teams. • A practice was held on Saturday afternoon by the members of the ladies’ team. All the players were present and a good deal of useful work was indulged in.- Messrs Teague and Hill were present, giving the newcomers some hints on the game and how it is played. The new members of the team impressed favourably and with a game or two should fit into the team very well. Altogether, the chances of the loam are very bright. Alembers of tho men’s team were busily engaged in marking out tho ground in preparation for tho opening of the season. Everything is in good order, tho only thing remaining to be done being tho wiring of the goal posts.
