RESOLUTIONS PASSED. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 19. The danger of dealing with recommendations concerning the sterilisation of the unfit without giving the matter grave consideration was stressed by Dr. Siedeberg BlcKinnon, at the session of the National Council of Women to-day. The following remits moved on behalf of the Christchurch branch were carried: —(1) That the Dominion executive urges all branches and affiliated societies to study the question of mental deficiency in the light of Dr. Gray’s report and recommendations presented to Parliament in 1927. (2) That the Dominion executive iirges all branches and affiliated societies to study the question of mental defetcive clinics as advocated by Dr. Gray in his report with a view to the carrying out of legislation along the lines suggested. A third remit advocating sterilisation in certain cases was held over. Bliss E. Blelville said, in relation to the sterilisation issue, that the medical women of the conference should be asked to prepare a report within the next twelve months. She move dthat as an amendment to the last remit. This was carried.
