TAIKOREA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAIKOREA, April 18 On Blonday the householders’ meeting was held in the school, there being a fairly good attendance. Prior to the meeting the retiring committee held their final meeting and everything was in readiness for the new one. The members of the committee were returned, no changes being made ir. the personnel. The committee ior the ensuing two years will thus be Messrs Hill. Print F. Print, E. Cornwall and A. Castle. A motion of confidence and congratulation on the work which had been accomplished was accorded the committee. On Saturday last the ’I aikoroa and Rongotca football teams met at i aikorea for a preliminary game before the opening ol the competition. Both teams took the held short, having respectively eight and nine players, football and basketball are coming game which at least gave thorn a foretaste of their favourite sport. lhe final scores were: Taikorca 3, Rongotea 6. Bir J. C. Ward made a capable referee. The last of the school tennis matches was nlavcd against Glen Oroua on t>atui day, when the Taikorea team won by 9 sets to 7. Witli the children, as with the older plavers, football and basketball rc corning to the fore. . , , , , The usual ping pong play is held on Wednesday evenings. So far the games have been merely practices and play has boen chiefly for ladder positions, as from these the teams will bo picked for inter-club matches.
