SPANISH SHIPPING.
NEW SUBSIDY SCHEME. Spain is dealing a severe blow at unsubsidised British shipping with an ambitious programme of State aid to the mercantile marine, states the correspondent of the Daily Mail at Barcelona. The programme includes the establishment of 15 regular commercial lines and provides for credits of £2,000,000 for building and establishing weekly services to London and elsewhere in Britain, making 780 calls a year. French and Italian shipping subsidies already amount to £9,000,000 a year each.
