BUNNYTHORPE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) BUNNYTHORPE, April 17. A friendly game of football was played on tho Recreation Ground on Saturday afternoon between Bunnythorpe juniors and Fcilding Old Boys’ juniors and resulted in an easy win for the home team by 31 points to nil. The game bad not been long in progress when L. Duthie cut in to score. Soon after, following a passing rush by C. Pinfold, L. Duthie and L. Burton, Burton scored and Sutherland converted. Tho visitors then carried play well down tho field, but again the local backs got going and a fine movement by C. Pinfold, L. Duthie, L. Burton and A. Redshaw resulted in Pinfold scoring. W. Sutherland improved the score by a good try, to bo followed up by L. Burton and L. Duthio scoring. In tho second spell both teams put in some fast and open play and the forwards took a hand in tho scoring, M. Thomas obtaining one try and C. Pentecost two. Air G. Duthie refereed. Much improved form was showed by the Bunnythorpe team, and with another game next Saturday they should develop into a good side for the opening of tho competition matches. Tho following scores were recorded at tho opening shoot of the Bunnythorpo Aliniature Rifle Club on Alonday evening: L. Curtis, 68—68 —136; L. Shailer, 65 —67— 132; R. Park, 65—68—133; FI. Gore, 66 67 —131; J. Vauticr, 51—51—102.

A social evening took place in the Public Hall on Monday evening, being ar-l-angcd by the young people of the district to bid farewell to Mr A. Clark, of the post office, who has been ti'ansfciTcd to Wellington. Cards, dancing and musical items wore the feature of tho cvenbig, there being a gxxod attendance. Mr W. B. Duthio referred to the departure of the guest of honour and congratulated him on his promotion. Ho spoke of tho general assistance rendered to movements in the township by Air Clark, and in bidding him farewell asked him to accept a travelling bag as an expression of their best wishes. Mr Clark suitably responded. Air J. Schcidt, on behalf of tho citizens, also congratulated Air Clark on bis promotion and wished hint success. At the close of the service at tho Anglican Church on Sunday evening, Rev. H. B. Goortz, on behalf of tho members of tho church, presented Air Clark with a travelling rug. Ho referred to tho long association of Air Clark with tho church. On Sunday evening, at the Alcthodist Ohuroh, tho newly appointed minister, Rev. C. A. Foston, from Westport, preached bis first sermon in the church. There was a largo congregation. The now minister is taking over the AshhurstBunnythorpe circuit, which was in the charge of Rev. R. E. Fordyco,- who is now in charge of tho Sandon circuit.
