SCOUT’S FORTITUDE.

TWO YEARS OF PAIN. The highest award a Boy Scout can receive was presented recently to John Hunt, of Eltham, London, for bravery shown in pain and sickness. It was the Cornwell Bronze Badge, which is awarded for exceptional courage, and it was presented to Scout Hunt in Lewisham Hospital, where lie lias been ill for two years and has had 17 operas tions as the result of an injury to his knee. Mr C. A. Featherstone, District Scout Commissioner for Eltham, made the presentation. Lord Baden-Powell the Chief Scout, who is ill in hospital following two operations, was unable to sign the accompanying certificate, but it wa.s signed for him by Lord Hampton, the Chief Commissioner. Every Saturday afternoon, as he lay in bed, Hunt has had scouting instruction from his former assistantscoutmaster, Mr W. Lunn. The Cornwell award originated through the bravery of Jack Cornwell, a London Boy Scout, who stuck to his gun under heavy shellfire in H.M.S. Chester,, in the Ba.ttle of Jutland on May 31, 1916, and was killed. He received a posthumous V.C.
